It's been a busy few weeks over here at Donna Joy Usher. I've been caught up in a rebrand frenzy, and have been asking myself all sorts of deep questions like what do I ultimately want to achieve with my business, and how best to do that?

While I feel I'm back to ground zero (what with my business partner deciding to follow her own path), I know that this ground zero is a far different place than when I first set out in my online journey 6 years ago.

I've learned so much, created so much and achieved so much…

But that doesn't stop the mind gremlins from playing havoc with my thoughts…

And all sorts of doubt creeping in.

The sort of doubts that come with words like:

It's no use, I'm never going to get it to work…

Why do I even bother, I'm just not good enough…

Nobody wants my help.

DO any of them sound familiar to you???

SO what do we do when those pesky mind gremlins come out to play?

How can we best limit the damage they create?

Cause let's face it, we're never going to be able to fully get rid of them.

Anyone who says they don't ever doubt themselves is delusional or lying…

It's a normal part of being a human being.

So if they are going to be there, ready to rear up when they sense a moment of weakness, what can we do about it?

Well I've come up with a tool I use that I think of as the Tunnel Tactic that I want to share with you now.

Just for a second, close your eyes and imagine that you are digging a tunnel.

You desperately want to get from A to B, so you have committed your time and effort to digging your way there.

But it't hard work…

And uncomfortable…

Your back muscles ache from swinging the pick, and your biceps are on fire from shovelling the dirt.

But you know, that with every swing of that pick, with every barrow load of dirt that you push back up out of the tunnel, you are that little bit closer.

You know that you are inching your way towards your goal.

It's just like us in out businesses, but for us, we don't have the dirt piling up outside that tells us how far we have come.

Instead, we let our mind tell us…

A dangerous thing, because it is sometimes a little OTT with the melodrama and occasionally likes to feel sorry for itself…

And that is never a good result.

So how do we use the Tunnel Tactic in our life?

Well, firstly, we realise that it is doing consistent activity everyday that is going to get us to Point B.

Somebody very smart once said, ‘Ordinary things, consistently done produce extraordinary results.'

WE always imagine that the people who are at the top are doing something different to us…

Something far more elaborate or exciting…

But the truth is, they are not.

They're doing the same thing to build their business that we can.

We just need to do it for long enough to get to where they are now.

Shovel by shovel…

Wheel barrow by wheel barrow…

Without questioning or judging or telling ourselves that we are no good.

We need to take consistent activity for long enough for there to be a noticeable result before we start judging whether or not it is working…

And then we need to keep doing it some more.

SO the take home from this is…

Building a successful online business is mainly doing the same shit every day…

And, don't judge your results on a day-to-day basis. Don't even judge it on a week to week one.

You need to get far enough in through the ups and down to notice the persistent curve upwards…

But that's something I want to show you in a different way…

Tomorrow.

Hope your day is awesome and that something amazing happens.
